Patna : World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Chinese Taipei, and World No 10 Saina Nehwal, 28, India, crashed out of the BWF World Championship at Nanjing, China, suffering defeats in the quartersfinals on August 3, 2018.

World No 7 HE Bingjiao, China, beat top seed Tai Tzu Ying in a three-set encounter 21-18, 7-21, 21-13 in 55 minute in the quartersfinals of the World Championship.

Reigning Olympic Champion and World No 8 Carolina Marine, Spain, beat Saina 21-6, 21-11 in just 31 minute in the quartersfinals to move into semi-finals. Their head to head record now stands 5-5.
