Arrested IAS officer Gupta suspended

Patna: Apparently ignoring the protests of the senior IAS officers and Bihar chapter of IAS association, CM Nitish Kumar maintaining his zero tolerance stand against corruption on Wednesday morning suspended the SDM of Mohania in Kaimur district Jitendra Gupta. He is an IAS officer of 2013 batch and was posted at Mohania since December 2013.
Gupta was arrested by state vigilance investigation bureau team on July 13 from his residence following charges of accepting bribe of Rs 80.,000 from transport operators for releasing four trucks which were carrying steel from Jamshedpur to Jaipur. The trucks were overloaded, according to the SDM.
Vigilance had raided his official residence and found cash and documents of vehicles from the residence.
Bihar chapter of IAS association had strongly protested the arrest of the officer and had claimed he was not involved in the crime. The association had also decided to register its protest with the Governor and CM.
