Ara : Farmers will stage gherao of Parliament from November 20, 2017, under the banner of Akhil Bharatiya Kisan Sangharsh Samanvay Samiti (ABKSSS) for freeing the country from the clutches of the corporate companies, said Rajaram Singh, national General Secretary Akhil Bharatiy Kisan Mahasabha (ABKM) on November 4, 2017.

The ABKSSS comprises 184 famers’ associations and was formed on the direction of ABKM at a Kisan Sansad presided over by former Bhojpur District Secretary, ABKM, Chandradeep Singh, and conducted by CPI(ML) MLA from Tarari and member of the national executive committee, ABKM, Sudama Prasad, on November 4. A seven point resolution including waiving of bank loans, doubling up of the support price of the agriculture produce, start of procurement of paddy from November 15 every year, and all facilities to the sharecroppers (Bataidar) including identity cards, checking harassment of the poor in the name of prohibition was passed by the Kisan Sansad at Padav Maidan.

Rajaram Singh said that the Manmohan Singh government had launched a policy to dislodge the middle and small ‘bataidar’ farmers from their lands while the Narednra Modi government had slashed subsidy, reduced the minimum support price of the agriculture products and has given free hands to Indian and foreign corporate companies to acquire lands of hapless farmers with the help of police in MP, Jharkand, UP and other places. He further said that the farmers are being forced to commit suicide. Over 3.5 lakh farmers have committed suicide so far in the country, he alleged.
