Ara: Bhojpur police led by SDO, Jagdishpur, Bal Mukund, on a tip off, conducted raid at a godown on August  9  evening and seized 70 quintal of rice worth Rs 1.25 lkh meant for the PDS. A named FIR has been lodged with Jagdishpur police station against two persons: Shobhnath Sah and his son Shiv Kumar Sah, owners of the godown. The SDO said that the owners escaped due to delay in raid.

The SDO said that the  Block Supply  Officers of Bihia and Jagdishpur  blocks had, after an inquiry,  found that the rice was taken from the Public Distribution  System. Bhojpur  DM Birendra Prasad Yadav as  ordered the District Programeme  Officer, ICDS,  to inquire into the matter. It was found that the rice was received from the PDS for sending it to the Anganwadi centre but was kept in the godown instead.
