Gopalganj: A youth Tarakant Upadhyaya sustained injuries when some persons attacked him with knives at mevillage Ramchandrapur under Thawe police station in Gopalganj district on January 2 night. He was admitted to  Gopalganj Sadar Hospital. Tarakant is son of Akhileshwar Upadhyaya posted at Thawe Post office.

Locals said that Tarakant was returning home after offering puja at a local temple when he was intercepted by five youth including Ankit Upadhyaya, Guddan Upadhyaya and Santosh. They assaulted Tarakant and attacked him with knives causing him injuries.

The locals informed his family members, who admitted him to Sadar Hospital, where his statement was recorded and sent to Thawe police station. Tarakant alleged that the accused snatched Rs 2,000 cash and his gold ring. Police were, however, yet to register an FIR in this connection.
