New Delhi : The Appointment Committee of  the Cabinet (ACC) on September 18, 2017, approved the appointment of  Y C Modi, an IPS of 1984 batch batch and Additional Director, CBI, as Director General (DG) , National Investigation Agency (NIA), for a period up to the date of his superannuation on May 31, 2021, from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

He will succeed Sharad Kunnar, an IPS officer of 1979 batch (Retd.), on completion of his tenure on October 30, 2017. The ACC also approved the appointment of  Y C Modi as OSD in NIA with immediate effect to ensure smooth takeover of responsibilities in NIA, according to a PIB release.

Rajni Kant Misra, an IPS of 1984 batch and Additional DG, BSF, has been appointed as Director General, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) for a period up to the date of his superannuation on August 31, 2019, from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He will succeed Ms   Archana Ramasundram, an IPS officer of 1980 batch, on completion of her tenure on September 30, 2017, according to the PIB release.
