Buxar: The proposed Power Plant at Chausa in Buxar district will start generating power from 2021. The work on the project is likely to start from January 2017 and will be complete in 2021. Satlaj Yamuna Vidyut Nigam (SYVN) has acquired 1,100 hectare in Banarpur, Chunni and Sikraul panchayats in Buxar district and the land is being fenced.

These panchayats are considered the most backward areas in the district. But after the SYVN started its work here, the government and private banks have been opened in the area. The devastating flood this year delayed start of work on the project and the company had to start afresh. Two units of 660-660 MW each will be installed on 1,100 hectare at an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore. The SYVN has opened its office and appointed its officers and employees.

Praveen Gupta, Additional General Manger, SYVN, said that the company has decided to start work on the project in January 2017. He said 1,320 MW electricity will be produced of which 85% of electricity will be sold to Bihar as per the agreement with the government. He said that at least 5,000 people of the area will benefit directly or indirectly and the company will establish several industries to meet the requirements of the power plant. Besides, the company is contemplating to establish medicare system, education institutions and other basic amenities to develop the adjoining areas.
