Sitamarhi :  Women voters outnumbered  male voters at majority of polling booths in six assembly segments of Sitamarhi parliamentary constituency (PC) during polling on  May 6, 2019. Sitamarhi PC comprises Bathanaha, Sitamarhi, Bajpatti, Runnisaidpur, Parihar, and Sursand assembly segments. Long queues of female voters were seen at minority dominated booths too. The issues national security and secularism dominated the thoughts of majority of voters. First time male and female young voters were very enthusiastic and seen locking themselves in selfies outside polling booths.
Sitamarhi DM M Ramchandrudu and SP Anil Kumar were seen inspecting several booths. Several instructions were given to officials. The election passed off peacefully baring a few stray incidents. Altogether sixteen companies of CPMF and state police were deployed to hold free and fair election.
At booth number 203 at village Pitambarpur under Bathanaha block, voters boycotted polling till 11 am protesting lack of  development, infrastructure and bridges. Former RJD minister Surya Dev Rai had a tough time pacifying the people. After positive response from  Sadar SDO Mukul Kumar Gupta, the polling process could be started.
Dr Barun Kumar, who was initially named as JD(U) nominee from Sitamarhi PC but later refused to contest the poll and was replaced by former Minister Sunil Kumar Pintoo, and his spouse Dr  Shweta cast their votes in a jubilant mood at Mehsaul booth.

JD (U) nominee Sunil Kumar Pintoo is a  four time BJP MLA from Sitamarhi. He is facing Grand Alliance nominee and former MP Arjun Rai (RJD). The sitting Sitamarhi RLSP MP Ram Kumar Sharma is supporting the candidature of Pintoo.
Altogether 17 model booths were set up with all women staff in the constituency. Among voters it was big attraction. Voters were heard saying it is the beginning of Nari Shakti.
A female BJP worker Munni Khatoon was roughed up by a group of people at Thakur Yugal Kishore Singh college booth number 27 and 28.
