Ara : Rinku Devi, a married woman and youngest daughter of Bhuwaneshwar Singh of village Dilia under Chauri police station in Bhojpur district, was strangulated to death allegedly by her in-laws at village Asani Udwantnagar police station on October 9, 2018, night, for a piece of land and a motorcycle.

Plice brought the body to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for postmortem on October 10, 2018. A named FIR has been lodged  Udwantnagar police station against her husband Umesh Singh and in-laws on the statement of Harendra Singh alias Hari Singh, deceased’s uncle but no arrest has so far been made in this connection. After killing her, her in-laws are absconding.

SHO, Udwantnagar police station, said that Rinku Devi was married to Umesh Singh of village Asani about nine years back and was ever since being tortured for land and a motorcycle with a threat of dire consequences. The SHO said that Bhuwaneshwar Singh had three daughters only. The SHO said that Umesh Singh had called his in-laws on October 8, 2018, threatening to kill Rinku Devi if his demands for and and motorcycle were not fulfilled and on October 9 night, her in-laws strangulated Rinku Devi to death.

The villagers informed Rinku Devi’s parents and when they came, they found body of Rinku Devi lying on the floor of the house and all the family members absent. They informed police who brought the body over to the Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
