Woman stabbed to death for dowry at Buxar village

Buxar  : Mantaa Devi, wife of Pappu Singh, was stabbed to death at village Banni under Dhansoi police station in Buxar district in the wee hour on June 15, 2017. Police brought the body to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. A named FIR has been lodged with Dhansoi police station against six persons including her husband but no arrest has so far been made in this regard.

SHO, Dhansoi police station, said that Manta Devi was sleeping in her room when her husband, mother-in-law and father-in-law and some others entered her room and stabbed her to death in the wee hour on June 15. Hearing her cry, some villagers reached there but by that time all the accused had escaped from the scene. The villagers said that the in-laws always allegedly tortured her for dowry and killed her when their demands were not fulfilled.
