Woman killed for dowry at W Champaran village

Bagaha : Tafaisun Khatoon, 22, wife of Sahebjan Ansari of village Gadiyani under Thakaraha police station in West Champaran district was set ablaze at her in-laws’ place for dowry on May 13, 2017. Her father Ismohammad of village Dusadipatti under Sevarahi police station in  Kushinagar district (UP) has lodged a complaint with the police station concerned in this connection making her in-laws accused in the case.

Thakaraha police station SHO RK Gautam said that the victim’s father alleged that Tafaisun’s in- laws, and her husband often physically tortured her for dowry and on May 13, they tried to kill her by setting her ablaze. When  her father  reached there he found her screaming alone at home. He, with the help of others, brought his daughter to Thakaraha primary health centre (PHC) for treatment. But, the doctors there referred her to Medical college hospital ,Gorakhpur but she died on the way on May 14, the SHO said. He said that the body was sent Bagaha for autopsy. But, not a single accused has been arrested so far.
