Ara : Ambalika Kumari, 25, was allegedly poisoned to death at her in-laws’ place at Hari JI ka Hata under Nawada police station, Ara,  in the wee hours on October 14, 2017, morning as she failed to bring Rs 10 lakh for her husband to start a business. Bhojpur police with the help of their Patna counterpart arrested Abhishek Sah, husband of the deceased. A named FIR has been lodged with Nawada police station against six persons including Ambalika’s husband on the statement Ambalika’s mother Usha Sah.

SHO, Nawada police station, Neyaz Ahamad said that Ambalika Kumari, daughter of Gopal Prasad of Daudnagar in Aurangabad district, was married to Abhishek Sah, son of Ashok Sah of Hari Ji Ka Hata under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district on December 7, 2015, and had a son. Since the marriage, her husband was pressurizing her to bring Rs 10 lakh for the business. Abhishek Sah has a readymade cloth shop in Dharman Chowk locality under Town police station, Ara. When their demand was not fulfilled, her in-laws tortured her and finally poisoned her to death.

Anurag Kumar, brother of the deceased, alleged that his brother-in-law (bahnoi) Abhishekh had illicit relation with another woman which his sister opposed. And so her in-laws always tortured her. Fed up with day to day quarrel, she had come to her parents but on September 10, 2017, her family members took her back with a promise not to torture her in future.

On the other hand, Abhishek Sah told police said that his wife was two months pregnant but she did not want to deliver the child which had become a bone of contention between them. On October 13 evening, he had tiff with his wife on the issue after which she consumed poison. He took her to Ara Sadar Hospital at about 10 pm but the doctors referred her to Patna Medical College and Hospital in view of her precarious condition but she breathed her last on way to Patna at about 1 am. Shashtrinagar police, Patna, seized the body and arrested Abhishekh.
