Woman dies due to burn injuries, husband struggling for life in Bhojpur

Ara : A married woman died due to serious burn injuries while her husband too sustained serious burn injuries at village Bahiyara under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district late Wednesday evening. Police got them admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital where the husband is struggling for life but the woman succumbed to her injuries during treatment. The incident took place over family dispute. Two FIRs have been lodged with Chandi police station by the father-in-law of the woman as well as her father in this connection.

The SHO, Chandi Police Station, said that Sushma Devi, 20, daughter of Rajesh Chaudhary of Baga village under Azimabad police station, was married to Karan, son of Vaidynath Chaudhary of Bahiyara under Chandi police station, in 2015. On Wednesday evening, Karan disclosed that his wife Sushma had an affair with someone before marriage and her MMS was released in the market. After this there was heated exchange between him and his wife. Upset over the development, Sushma set herself afire after sprinkling kerosene oil on her body and also embraced her husband tightly. In the process, both received serious burn injuries. When Chhotu, 12, brother-in-law (devar) of the woman tried to save them, he also received burn injuries. All the three were admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital around midnight where Sushma succumbed to her injuries while Karan is struggling for life. The condition of Chhotu is stated to be stable.

On the other hand, Rajesh Chaudhary, father of the deceased,  alleged at Ara Sadar Hospital that her in-laws were demanding a four- wheeler and a gold chain since her marriage and when their demands were not fulfilled, they burnt her when she was sleeping.
