Giridih: A 10 year old girl drowned to death in an unprotected village pond at village Chiknadih under Deori block in Giridih district in Jharkhad on Thursday. The incident took place at around 12: 30 pm when the girl, identified as Sarita Kumari, 10, a resident of village Jhalakdiha under Herodih PS, along with few other kids had gone to take bath in the village pond. But, she slipped into a deep ditch. According to the villagers, the deceased had come to her maternal uncle’s home at Chiknadih to attend a marriage ceremony.
“Although I am not aware of the incident, but as soon as I get information in this regard, we will take appropriate action,” Deori PS incharge Sumit Kumar said. Mukhiya Rekha Sharma said, “Immediately after getting information, we visited the place of occurrence and looked into the matter. Later, we handed over the body to the village Chowkidar for further legal action in this regard.”
