Ara Family members and acquaintances went on rampage and staged demonstration in front of the emergency ward of Ara Sadar Hospital on May 4, 2018, after the death of a woman. They held the hospital management responsible for the death of the woman.

Anjarun Haque of village Chakia under Ara Muffassil police station in Bhojpur district said at Ara Sadar Hospital that he had admitted his wife Nagma Khatoon to Ara Sub-divisional  Hospital for delivery in the evening on May 3, 2018, where she gave birth to a girl child. The doctors advised blood transfusion after delivery and since blood was not available there, the doctors referred her to Ara Sadar Hospital around 9pm.

The doctors at Ara Sadar Hospital  asked the family members to arrange at least 7 bottles of blood as the blood bank on the campus of hospital remains open from 8am to 6pm only. In the meantime, Nagma Khatoon breathed her last for want of blood and proper care.  The Ara Sadar Hospital did not provide even an ambulance to carry the body.

Dr Jitendra Nath Mishra of  Ara Sadar Hospital said that the patient was brought over to the hospital in critical condition and needed blood transfusion immediately. He said as the hospital had no blood and so he asked her family members to arrange blood from outside and as they could not manage, she died for want of blood.
