Ara : A female constable Richa Sharma, wife of Rahul Sharma, consumed poison and was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital on December 19, 2019, late night. The doctors referred her to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in view of her critical condition where she breathed her last on December 21, 2019, morning.

The deceased was a resident of Katira locality under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur District. Police handed over the body to her family members after post-mortem. The reason behind the incident is still to be ascertained though family dispute is stated to be cause behind it.

SHO, Ara Town police station, Janmjay Rai, said that constable Richa Sharma of village Parthu, Ekangarsarai, in Nalanda district was married to Rahul Sharma, a medicine shop owner of Katira under Nawada police station on June 15, 2019. She had filled up form for Sub-Inspector examination scheduled for December 22, 2019.

The SHO said that tconstable Richa Sharma was posted in the anti-riot battalion in Darbhanga district and was at present deputed to Ara Town police station. She was deputed at Ara railway station on December 19, 2019 during Bihar bundh. On her return to the New Police Line, she went to the wash-room taking a bottle of water from her colleague. She came out of the washroom and went to Ara Town police station where she started vomiting. She was rushed to Ara Sadar Hospital immediately but the doctor referred her to PMCH where she died on December 21.
