Woman commits suicide, husband arrested

Gopalganj: A married woman Sanju Devi died due to serious burn injuries after she set herself afire at Bhore under the same police station in Gopalganj district. Her husband Sriniwas Sah also sustained burn injuries when he tried to save Sanju.

Police said that Sanju was talking to her brother in-law on her cellphone. Her husband chided her for it and then he went on the roof of his house. Irked over it, Sanju poured kerosene oil on her body and set 0herself ablaze.When Sah tried to save his wife, he also sustained burn injuries. Both of them were admitted to Bhore Referral Hospital from where the attending doctors referred Sanju to Gorakhpur. As the family members were taking her to Gorakhpur, she died mid-way.

On getting information, a Bhore police team reached there and arrested the deceased’s husband Sah. The body was sent to Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Bhore ps SHO Gautam Kumar said that the deceased’s family members have been informed about the tragic death of Sanju. An FIR would be only lodged after their arrival, he added. It may be mentioned here that Sanju Devi, daughter of Sudarshan Sah of village Karsarwan Khurd under Khampar police station in Uttar Pradesh, was married to Sriniwas Sah, son of Umashankar Sah of Bhore, three years ago and they have a son also.
