Ara : Geeta Devi was allegedly burnt to death by her in-laws at village Koyal under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district on July 5, 2017, for dowry. An FIR has been lodged with police but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.
SHO, Charpokhari police station, said that Geeta Devi, daughter of Baban Sah of village Bichhiawa e under Udwantnagar police station was married to Dharmendra Sah of village Koyal under Charpokhari police station two years ago and ever since she was being tortured allegedly by her in-laws for more cash. When their demands were not fulfilled, Geeta’s in-laws burnt her to death on July 5 and disposed off the body to wipe out evidence, the SHO said.
