Woman burnt to death for dowry at Madhubani village

Madhubani:  Married only two and half months earlier, Gunja, daughter of Ramdeo Mahaseth of Maharajganj mohalla of  Madhubani town,  was allegedly burnt to death allegedly by her in-laws for dowry. Irate members of the family and others blocked the road in front of the collectorate on Thursday demanding action against the culprits and also against the Officer-in-charge of Basopatti police station in Madhubani district for trying to protect the culprits.

Trouble started when the body came to Madhubani for postmortem. Gunja was married to Raju Mahto, son of  Yogendra Mahto of Basopatti in March last.  Her in-laws were allegedly demanding motorcycle and cash from her father.  Six persons including the husband of the deceased have been made accused in the case and
intensive search for their arrest is on, according to  Officer-in-chage of Basopatti PS  Rajesh Kumar. Local RJD MLA Sameer Kumar Mahaseth met the members of the deceased’s family and assured them of all possible help in getting justice.
