Woman burnt to death by in-laws at Bhojpur village

Ara :  A married woman Krishna Devi was burnt to death at village Sikariya under Tier police station in Bhojpuri district allegedly for protesting her husband’s relation with his sister-in-law (bhabhi). Her in-laws performed  the last rites of the deceased in a haste to erase evidence on Wednesday evening.

A named FIR has been lodged with Tier police station against five persons including her husband Sumit Choubey alias Bhola Choubey and father-in-law Shiv Narayan Choubey on the statement of deceased’s father Kanhaiya Tiwari of village Devrad under Tier police station but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

The SHO, Tier police station, said that Krishna Devi, daughter of Kanhaiya Tiwari of village Devrad, was married to Sumit Choubey, son of Shiv Narayan Choubey of Sikariya village under Tier police station, in 2011. Her parents had given several gifts including huge cash at the time of marriage yet her in-laws tortured Krishna Devi for dowry, the SHO said. In the meantime, Krishna Devi came to know that her husband had relation with his bhabhi hence started protesting it.
