Ara: The ban imposed on sand mining from river Sone river by the National Green Tribunal notwithstanding, illegal sand mining is going on unabated in Bhojpur district. Bhojpur police led by ASP (operations) Md Sazid conducted raids at Vishunpura under Chandi police station on Thursday and seized 10 tractors loaded with sand.The National Green Tribunal had banned digging of sand without No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Ministry of Environment. The then Bhojpur DM Pankaj Kumar Pal had enforced the ban on sand mining immediately though digging of sand was allowed at nine places under Sahar and Sandesh block of the district.
