Ara : A married woman Poonam Devi was beaten up and injured at village Rajpur under Bahoranpur police outpost in Bhojpur district on May 25, 2017,  allegedly by her in-laws. She was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctors there referred her to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) in a precarious condition. But she succumbed to her injuries on May 26 at PMCH. A named FIR has been lodged with Bahoranpur police outpost against her two brothers-in-law but no arrest has so far been made in this regard.

Poonam Devi, wife of Om Prakash Thakur of village Rajpur was beaten up and injured on May 25  evening.  Om Prakash Thakur works in a private company in New Delhi. Munna Rai, brother of the deceased, said that ever since her marriage, her in-laws often beat her up and she often complained about rude behaviuor of her two brothers-in-law. He said her brothers-in-law assaulted her and she succumbed to her injuries.

On the other hand, her in-laws said that Poonam Devi had gone along with her brother-in-law Jai Prakash to Raghunathpur to see her son who lived in a hostel there and on return jouney, the motorcycle met with an accident in which she was badly injured and died.
