Bettiah : DM, West Champaran, Nilesh Ramchandra Deore, on June 1, 2019, handed over cheques of Rs 10 lakh each as ex-gratia to the wives of two slain Homeguard Jawans : Arjuna Yadav of village Sasaraon under Bhairoganj police station, and Hiralal Kushwaha of village Malapurawa under Bagaha town police station, both in Bagaha police district.
Both Homeguards Jawans were killed by timber smugglers in an encounter under Harnatand Forest Rnge in Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) on January 27, 2019. The cheques were handed over to Laungi Devi and Laxmi Devi. The DM advised them to utilise the money properly for the betterment of their respective family.
