Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Novak Djokovic, Serbia, World No 5 Alexander Zverev, Germany, and World No 12 Fabio Fognini, Italy, advanced to Round of 16 of French Open on June 1, 2019.

Djokovic beat World No 147 Salvatore Caruso, 26, Italy, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 in the 3rd round at Roland Garros, Paris France, firing 8 Aces in the match. Djokovic broke Caruso’s service 5 times besides winning 4 games in a row. Djokovic won 58 service points to 43 by Caruso.

Zverev beat World No 35 Dusan Lajovic, 28, Serbia, in a five-set thriller 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 1-6, 6-2 in the third round hammering 18 Aces in the match. Zverev won 8 break points to 7 by Lajovic. Zverev won 5 games in a row to 4 by Lajovic.

Fognini beat World No 21  Roberto Bautista Agut, 31, Spain, in four sets 7-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in the third round hammering 11 Aces in the match. Both the players committed 6 double faults each. Fognini won 8 break points to 6 by Agut The Italian won 5 games in a row to 3 by Agut. Fognini will face Zverev in the Round of 16 on June 3, 2019.
