Patna : West Indies (WI) defeated Pakistan by 7 wickets in the 2nd match of ICC World Cup at Trent Bridge, Nottingham, UK, on May 31, 2019. Replying to Pakistan’s 105 all out in 21.4 overs, WI scored 108/3 in 13.4 overs only with opener Chris Gayle scoring 50 in 34 balls hitting 6 fours and 3 sixes and Nicholas Pooran scoring an unbeaten 34 in 19 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Shai Hope (wk) and Darren Bravo fell to Paksitan fast bowler Mohammad Amir forĀ  11 and zero respectively. Gayle also fell to Amir. WI fast bowler Oshane Thomas was declared Player of the Match.

WI had won the toss and opted to bowl. Pakistan lost their first wicket at 17 when opener Imam-ul-Haq fell to medium fast bowler Sheldon Corrtell for 2 while his opening partner Fakhar Zaman fell to Andre Russel for 22 making it 35/2. Haris Sohail also fell to Russel for 8 making it 45/3. Babbar Azam fell to fast bowler Oshane Thomas for 22 in 33 balls with 2 fours and it was 62/4. Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk) fell to fast bowler Jason Holder for 8. Imad Wasim also fell to Holder for 1 and it was 77/6. Shadab Khan fell to Oshane Thomas for a duck and it was 78/7. Hasan fell to Holder for 1 while Wahab Riaz fell to Thomas for 18. It was a pathetic display of batting Pakistan.

For WI, Oshane Thomas took 4/27 in 5.4 overs while Jason Holder took 3/42 in 5 overs. Andre Russel took 2/4 in 3 overs while Cottrell took 1/18 in 4 overs.
