Ara : Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, administration spent Rs 86.76 lakh in litigation related to salary, pension, posting, land dispute of colleges, anomalies in admission, RTI, service matter and others during 2013 – 2018.
The matter came to light after a National Students Union of India leader sought information about it under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. He said that the VKSU spent Rs 8.93 lakh in 2013-2014 fiscal, Rs 4.48 lakh in 2014-2015, Rs 24.91 lakh in 2015-2016, Rs 14.33 lakh in 2016-2017, Rs 32.41 lakh in 2017-2018 fiscal, and Rs 1.44 lakh from April 2018 to May 2018 on meeting the legal cost of the cases.
Expenditure on litigation can be brought down considerably if the VKSU administration solves the problems of the teachers and non-teaching employees amicably on time. At least 8 advocates have been hiked by the university for contesting different cases on behalf of it.
Dr Krishna Mohan Kumar, law officer, VKSU, said that the university has won most of the cases but in service matter sometimes the VKSU administration has to face problems.
