Ara : Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, administration has not issued direction for the admission to BA/BCom/ BSc Part I to its constituent and affiliated colleges even after one month of publication of Intermediate Examanination results. Hundreds of students visit different colleges daily to know the date of admission.
The VKSU administration had decided to start online admission in constituent as well as affiliated colleges from this year but has failed to issue guidelines for the academic session 2017-2020 in this regard so far. As a result, the colleges are confused and students are a harried lot. Earlier, admission to degree courses used to start in the month of July but this year admission is yet to start.
Altogether 17 constituent colleges and 56 affiliated colleges under VKSU run degree courses. Earlier, offline admission facility was available at these colleges and admission process used to start in the first week of July but with the university opting for online admission from this year, admission process is to start in the absence of any guideline from the university. The delay in admission may cause delay in session.
University sources said that university had decided centralized admission in degree classes in constituent colleges and tender was invited for the purpose. A number of agencies applied but the university administration has not assigned the work to any agency so far. Sources said if the university starts admission even from the second week of August, it will take at least one month to complete the process and several holidays are falling in September.
Students said that the steps of the VKSU to start online and centralized admission is praiseworthy as it would bring transparency in admission process and check irregularities. They were, worried, about the delay in admission process.
Vice Chancellor, VKSU, Sayyed Mumtazuddin said that the university administration decided to start online admission to degree courses from this academic calendar but the admission process could not be started due to some unavoidable reasons. The VC said the admission process will start very soon. He said that he would try to ensure that the academic session is not delayed.
