Bagaha: Mahatma Gandhi’s 147 birth anniversary was celebrated at several places in Bagaha in West Champaran district on Sunday.

Van Vikas Bharti, an NGO, organised a seminar on the occasion and held a prayer meeting. A sanitation programme led by Valmikinagar MP Satish Chandra Dubey was launched on the premises of Kamalnath Tiwari sub-divisional hospital under Swachh Bhart mission.

The Bagaha JD(U) unit led by its president and former MP Kailash  Baitha took out a rally which passed through different localities of Bagaha town. The JD(U) workers were raising slogan of ” Pura hoga Bapu ka Sapna, Jab Nasha  Mukt Hoga Bihar Apana”( dream of the Gandhi would be realised, when Bihar will get rid of liquor) .

Incidentally, during the prohibition rally, a faction the party workers suddenly attacked Md Nizamuddin, state secretary for minority cell of the party, from behind him. He was admitted to Kamalnath Tiwari Hospital with serious head injuries.Bagaha town police station SHO Md Yaqub said an FIR was lodged with the police station in this connection. One person has been made named accused in the FIR, the SHO said.
