Saharsa : The residents of Subedari Tola under Sadar Police Station on September 1, 2017, blocked the road near Jhapra Tola on Southern bypass of Saharsa Town for four hours to protest the police failure to arrest the persons who had shot at and injured President of Dealers’ Association, Saharsa, Bhagwan Das at his residence on August 30, 2017. The villagers said that the criminals have become so emboldened that they fired several rounds in the air even on September 1 to terrorise the family members of Bhagwan Das. The villagers alleged that police were patronising the criminals. They were raising alogans against police.
When Sadar police station, Saharsa, team reached the spot to pacify the protesters, they pelted policemen with stones injuring some police personnel. SDPO Prabhakar Tiwari and SHO, Sadar plice station, later reached spot and brought the situation under control. The SDPO and SHO also spoke to Bhagwan Das’s wife to get details of the September 1 firing by the criminals and assured to take prompt action against them.
