Ara : Some unidentified armed miscreants shot dead Lal Babu Singh, 23, son of  Bhukhan Singh, a Chowkidar, near Katahi bridge at village Bajaria under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district on August 17, 2018, late night. Angry  villagers fired on police and shot at and injured the Station House Officer, Sahar police station, Sanjay Kumar, when he along with police force went to recover the body. The villagers were demanding arrest of the killers at the earliest. The villagers also attacked the house of the accused Bahadur of Bajaria Milki Tola under the same police station the same night and set ablaze his house, motorcycle and tractor.

A named FIR has been lodged with Sahar police station against six persons including Bahadur but no arrest has so far been made in this regard though the police have taken five persons under custody for interrogation. Personal enmity is said to be cause behind the murder of Lal Babu. Tension prevails in and around the area following the incident. The entire area is cordoned off.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that Lal Babu Singh was going to Baruhi Bazaar on his motorcycle around 8.30 pm on August 17. When he reached near Kahati bridge of the village, Bahadur of Baharia Milki Tola under Sahar police station along with his associates intercepted him and pumped three bullets into his body killing him on spot, the SP said. The miscreants also reached the house of the deceased and thrashed his father Bhukhan Singh after which the villagers attacked the house of Bahadur and set ablaze his house, motorcycle and tractor, he said. The SP further said that when the SHO, Sahar police station, Sanjay Kumar, along with police force reached the spot to recover the body,  irate villagers also attacked police force and fired on them injuring the SHO. The SHO was admitted to a private noshing home at Ara.

The SP further said that he along with Ara SDO, Arun Prakash, ASP (operations) Nitin Kumar, SDPO, Piro, Reshu Krishnan, and other officials rushed to the spot and ordered for raids in the area and added that police took five persons into custody for interrogation. Raids are still going on. He said that situation is tense but under control.
