Ara : Liquor smugglers and dealers attacked police and pelted them with stones injuring about half a dozen cops when they went to Chandwa Musahar Toli under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district, to conduct raid on August 17, 2018, late night. They also damaged a motorcycle of the Cross Mobile and a Bolero of  Nawada police station. Later, heavy police force was requisitioned and police arrested about a dozen liquor smugglers and boozers. The injured police personnel were admitted to Sadar Hospital, Ara.

SDPO, Pankaj Kumar, said that police got information that liquor was being sold at Chandwa Musahar Toli under Nawada police station and a number of liquor smugglers were seen there. A police team was sent there to conduct raids. Seeing police, the liquor smugglers and dealers attacked the force and pelted them with stones injuring half a dozen of them including the SHO, Nawada police station, Subodh Kumar. The liquor smugglers also chased police who had to retreat and take shelter at a shop. They also damaged the motorcycle of Cross mobile and the Bolero of the Nawada police station, the SDPO said.

The SDPO further said that he along with police force also rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. He said a named FIR was lodged in this connection and police are conducting raids to arrest the lliquor smugglers.
