Gopalganj: Valuables worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes when a fire broke out in two houses at village Rupibaghi under Panchdeori block in Gopalganj district late on January 5 night. Both the families are forced  to live under open sky.

Locals said that the family members of Nandlal Ram went to sleep at on January night. Around 10 pm, a fire broke out in his house. Though the family members fled from the house, valuables including Rs 20,000 cash and four goats were reduced to ashes. Before the villagers could react, fire also engulfed the house of Raghu Ram.

Villagers said that Nandlal had made arrangements for wedding of his daughter and some gold jewellery was also kept in the house.When contacted, Circle Officer (CO) Upendra Kumar Tiwary said that the officials are assessing the damage and both the families would be given compensation as per government rule.
