Patna: A police team of Patna on November 27 arrested a youth Vedant Mishra from Jagatnagar colony of Bhogaon in Mainpui district in Uttar Pradesh (UP) with the help of local police for creating a Facebook account in the name of SSP, Patna, Manu Maharaaj, and making false promises to the 3,000 friends he had created in his name. He has been brought over to Patna for further investigation into the matter.

SSP, Patna, Maharaaj had constituted a three-member Special investigation team (SIT) headed by SI Vinay Prakash to probe the matter after several persons contacted him on his official mobile when they found the number given to them by Vedant was not responding.

The SSP got the matter investigated by the cyber cell which found that Maharaaj had never created any Facebook account in his name but someone had used his photo and name to create a Facebook in his name. After this, Maharaaj got a case of cyber crime lodged with Secretariat police station, Patna, on November 25, 2016. The SIT was entrusted with the task of investigation of the case. The team members connected themselves with the fake Facebook account and started talking to Vedant and even got his  mobile number which was immediately put on surveillance to find his location which was found at Bhogaon in Mainpuri district, UP. The SIT team reached there on November 27, 2016, and arrested him with the help of local police.
