Nawada: The Bhart Bandh call against demonetization drew a lukewarm response from the public at large in Nawada district on November 28. Barring an hour long blockade at Sadhbhavna Chowk by the RJD’s minority wing , a busy intersection on NH 31, the bandh passed off largely unnoticed in the backdrop of normal life at schools, markets, government offices, bus terminals and railway stations.

The occasion proved to be a blessing for a dozen and odd urchins in the town who were paid around Rs 100 each by the nation’s biggest opposition party functionaries in Nawada to raise vociferous slogans against the demonetization move by the PM.

In another unrelated incident, miscreants threw stones at Gaya-Howrah Express train at Sadipur Halt on Gaya-Kiul section of the Eastern Railway in the morning. The glass pane of the engine was broken. The miscreants, belonging to a marriage party, wanted the train to stop to give them a lift. The train driver later lodged a complaint with the Nawada railway station authorities.
