Two quacks sent to jail in Bhojpur

Ara : Two quacks : Dr B D Singh and Dr Manjeet Kumar, who were arrested from Hasan Bazaar and Ojhawalia villages in Bhojpur district respectively, were sent to jail on September 10, 2018, after interrogation. Police also sealed Dental Clinic of Dr B D Singh at Hasan Bazaar and Aditya Clinic of Dr Manjeet Kumar at Ojhawalia under Piro Sub-division in Bhojpur district.

A team of Bhojpur district officials and doctors had conducted raids at Piro Bazaar, Hasan Bazaar, Jitaura, and Agiaw Bazaar under Piro Sub-Division on September 9, 2018. The team members verified certificates of doctors and found most of their certificates fake. They also found that a number of self styled doctors were doing brisk business without medical certificates in rural areas.

A team of officials comprising the Piro SDO Sunil Kumar, Deputy Collector Land Reform (DCLR) Dushyant Kumar, BDO, Piro, Sushil Kumar, Dr Rajiv Kumar and Dr Anil Kumar conducted raids at Piro, Hasan Bazaar, Jitaura Bazaar, Ojhawalia and adjoining areas and lodged a named FIR against five quacks and also identified dozens of other such quacks running clinics without medical degrees or on fake degrees.

Dr Rajiv Kumar, Medical Officer, Piro Primary Health Centre, said when the team reached Agiaw Bazaar, Hasan Bazaar and Jitaura, most of the clinic were closed and the doctors had fled away. The team arrested two quacks : Dr B D Singh, running a Dental Clinic at Hasan Bazaar, and Dr Manjeet Kumar, owner of Aditya Clinic at Ojhawalia Mor, for doing illegal medical practice on fake medical degrees. He said that Dr Somnath Prasad is an Ayurvedacharya but had become a self styled surgeon and performing operations.

He said that a named FIR has been lodged against Dr B D Singh, running a dental clinic at Hasan Bazaar on fake medical degree, Dr Gopal Pandey, running clinic at Agiaw Bazaar without medical degree, Dr Manjeet Kumar, and Dr Somnath Prasad.
