Ara : On the direction of Patna High Court, a team of Bhojpur district officials and doctors conducted raids at Piro Bazaar, Hasan Bazaar, Jitaura and Agiaw Bazaar under Piro Sub-Division and verified certificates of self-styled doctors and found most of their certificates fake. They also detected that a number of quacks are doing brisk business without medical certificates in rural areas.

A team of officials comprising Piro SDO Sunil Kumar, Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR) Dushyant Kumar, BDO, Piro, Sushil Kumar, Dr Rajiv Kumar and Dr Anil Kumar, conducted raids at Piro, Hasan Bazaar, Jitaura Bazaar, Ojhawalia and adjoining areas and lodged a named FIR against five quacks and also marked dozens of other such doctors who are running clinics without medical degrees or on fake degrees.

When the team reached Agiaw Bazaar, Hasan Bazaar and Jitaura, it found most of the clinic closed. The team arrested two quacks:  Dr B D Singh and Dr Manjeet Kumar, owner of Aditya Clinic at Ojhaalia Mor, for doing  medical practice on fake medical degrees. The team said that Dr Somnath Prasad is an Ayurvedacharya but had become a self- styled surgeon performing operations.

Medical Officer, Piro Primary Health Centre, Dr Rajiv Kumar said that a named FIR has been lodged against Dr B D Singh, running a dental clinic at Hasan Bazaar on fake medical degree, Dr Gopal Pandey, running clinic at Agiaw Bazaar without medical degree, Dr Manjeet Kumar and Dr Somnath Prasad. Besides, an FIR was also lodged against Aditya Clinic, Maa Shakti Clinic and Rahul Clinic. He said that several anomalies were detected during raids and added verification of certificates will continue now to discourage medical practices by the quacks.

The quacks are ruling the roost in every nook and corner in Bhojpur district and the health department is aware of it  but never bother to check it. It is said that persons posing themselves doctors, purchase medicine from the market and sale them in rural areas where they run their clinics. Even at Ara, headquarters of Bhojpur district, such practice is going on.
