Patna : Two undertrial prisoners of Hajipur divisional jail in Vaishali district : Sohan Gope and Jitendra Paswan, who were undergoing treatment at Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH), escaped from Prisoners’ Ward early morning on March 6, 2017. Sohan Gope was jailed under Arms Act while Jitendra Paswan was put behind the bars in a case of loot.

Confirming the escape of two prisoners, Vaishali SP Rakesh Kumar said that four constables, who were supposed to be on duty round the clock, had been suspended in this connection as they were found absent from duty when the two criminals escaped.  The SP said that both the undertrial prisoners were sent to PMCH for treatment on the recommendation of a Medical Board. Sohan Gope, who was suffering from renal ailment, was undergoing treatment at PMCH was for about three months while Jitendra Paswan was under treatment for the last one week for some other disease. Both escaped from the bathroom by removing the window rod.

SP Rakesh Kumar denied that  Sohan Gope and Jitendra Paswan were friends. Sohan hails from Raghopur while Jitendra belongs to Hajipur town. The SP said police have conducted raids at Sohan’s Raghopur and Jitendra’s Hajipur residences but they were not found there. Police are searching for them at other places as well.
