Patna/ Jamui:  Two persons including special platoon commander of banned outfit CPI (Maoist) Pankaj Yadav were arrested after a  fierce enounter with a police team comprising district police, CRPF and STF jawans, at Bhaluan jungle located on the border of Lakhisarai-Jamui districts on December 15 evening. Police also seized looted police weapons and some cartridges from the possession of the arrested persons, said Jamui SP Jayantkant.

Police said that after getting information that some Maoists had assembled at Bhaluan jungle, a police team led by the SP himself reached there. Seeing the cops and para-military jawans, the Maosits opened fire at the police team forcing the cops to retaliate. An encounter ensued in which both sides opened fire at each other. Later, the Maosists retreated from there.

Jamui SP said that the encounter started at around 5.30 pm and ended around 7.30 pm. He said that the jawans were carrying out raids in the jungle to arrest other Maosits, who had escaped. There was no casualty reported, he added.
