Ara : Two juvenile prisoners escaped from police custody at Ara railway station on June 14, 2017, when they were brought over from Sasaram for production before the Ara Juvenile Court the same day.

The incident took place when two Chowkidars escorting them got down from Sasaram – Ara passenger train at Ara railway station to take tea leaving the two boys under the custody of another Chowkidar who soon went to sleep in the bogie of the train which terminates at Ara. An FIR has been lodged with Government Rail Police (GRP), Ara, on the statement of a Chowkidar Ramashish Paswan. The child prisoners were residents of Rohtas district. The police station concerned has also been informed about the incident.

SHO, Badhari police outpost, said on mobile that the police had arrested both the children from village Badaki Akodhi under Kargahar police station in Rohtas district under Excise Act on June 13 and they sent to Ara by Sasaram- Ara passenger train along with three Chowkidars for production before the Juvenile Court. As the train reached platform no 3 at Ara railway station, two Chowkidars went to take tea and the third went to sleep in the bogie of the train. When they returned, they found the child prisoners had escaped.

The SHO said that the Chowkidars had not returned so far and added that he would recommend for departmental proceeding against all the three Chowkidars for dereliction of duty.
