Patna : Two bike borne criminals shot dead an elderly couple was shot dead around 2 pm on June 14, 2017, at village Faridpur under Naubatpur police station in Patna district in a land dispute. SSP, Patna, Manu Maharaaj, said that they were shot dead by their nephew. Replying to a query, the SSP said that assailants were yet to be arrested though police were searching for them.
The assailants first shot dead Kusum Devi outside her house. When her husband Vishwanath Upadhyayay came out of the house after hearing the sound of firing, the two criminals also shot him dead and escaped unchallenged.
The couple lived alone at the house after murder of one of their three sons Umapati Upadhyayay about ten years back. Both of them were witness in that murder case. After the murder of Umapati, the couple had sent their other two sons Sabhapati and Pashupati outside for security reasons. Both are married and are in private jobs. Police have informed them about the killing of their parents. Tension prevails at the village after the incident.
