Patna: An inquiry conducted by North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited (NBPDCL) has  found negligence on the part of M/s Shyama Power India Ltd,  Assistant Electrical Engineer, Electric Sub-Division, Rosera, and  Jr. Electrical Engineer, Singhia, which led to amputation of right arm of Tara Devi, 35,  of village Lelhaul in Samastpur district after she suffered injury due to electrocution on May 5, 2015.

The GM(HR/Admin), NBPDCL, was directed by BHRC to get an inquiry  conducted into the complaint that despite intimation to various  electrical authorities, supply of electricity was not stopped. BHRC on Friday asked the NBPDCL to inform it about the administrative action taken in the matter against those responsible for the lapse before 30th September 30,2016, when the matter will be beard next.

Tara Devi, wife of late Lakshman Mahto of village Lelhaul under Singhia police station in Samastipur had complained to Bihar Human Rights Commission (BHRC) about electrocution on May 5, 2015, due to a 11 KV  hanging livewire leading to amputation of her right arm. The live 11KV line was hanging in the village for long. Despite information to various electricity authorities, electric supply was not stopped.During the last hearing on May 12, 2016, BHRC was  informed that after cognizance by BHRC, NBPDCL  had sanctioned  Rs one lakh as compensation to Tara Devi and that  she would be  provided an artificial limb by a Kanpur firm  and  the entire cost shall be borne by  NBPDCL. A criminal case was also lodged with Singhia police station in this connection.
