Gopalganj: Astadhatu idols of Sri Ram-Janki and Laxman were stolen rom historical Shiv Temple at Banjari in Gopalganj urban area  under Town police station late November 18 night. The theft was detected when the priest of the temple reached there on Saturday  morning. The stolen idols are 100 year old.

A police team from Town police station reached there after the cops were informed by the priest about the theft. Sadar SDPO Manoj Kumar, DSP (Hqs) Vibhash Kumar and Town Inspector Baleshwar Rai also reached there. Locals said that the three idols were placed in the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The door was locked from outside and the priest Yogendra Pandey was sleeping nearby. Police team quizzed several persons including the priest in this connection. Town Inspector Rai said that police have lodged an FIR in this connection and investigation is on.
