Patna : Top seed Dominic Thiem, 26, Austria, and 4th seed Karen Khachanov, 23, Russia, advanced to the semi-finals of China Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points event, at Beijing, China, on October 4, 2019.

World No 5 Thiem beat World No 503 Any Murray, 32, UK, the winner of three Grand Slam title including 2 Wimbled titles, 6-2, 7-6 in 1hr 54 minutes at National Tennis Center, Beijing. Thiem, the French Open finalists in both 2018 & 2019, won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Murray. The Austrian fired 7 Aces in the match to 5 by the Briton. Thiem also won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Murray. The Austrian won 48 service points to 43 by Murray.

World No 9 Khachanow defeated 6th seed and World No 12 Fabio Fognini, 32, Italy, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 in 1hr 46 minutes in QFs battling back from one set down. The Russian won 5 break points in the match to 2 by the Italian. He fired 7 Aces in the match to 1 by Fognini. Khachanov won 4 games in a row in the match to 3 by Fognini. Khachanov will face Thiem in SFs on October 5, 2019.
