Patna : Fifth seed & two- time French Open finalist Dominic Thiem, 26, Austria, beat 7th seed Alexander Zverev, 22, Germany, in a four-set thriller to reach the final of Australian Open (AO) 2020 at Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on January 31, 2020, his third Grand Slam final. He is the first Austrian to reach AO Final. He had reached French Open Final in 2018 & 2019.

Thiem will face seven-time champion and World No 2 Novak Djokovic, 32, Serbia, in the final on February 2, 2020. The Austrian had stunned top seed and World No 1 Rafael Nadal in quarter-finals on January 29, 2020, while Djokovic defeated six-time champion & World No 3 Roger Federer, 38, Switzerland, on January 31, 2020. Djokovic leads Thiem 6-4 Head to Head.

World No 5 Dominic Thiem beat World No 7 Alexander ZverevĀ  in a four-set thriller 3-6, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6 in 3hr 42 minutes in the second semi-finals battling back from one set down at Rod Laver Arena. Thiem saved two set points in third set. Zverev though hammered 16 Aces in the match to 10 by Thiem. The Austrian hit 43 winners in the match.

Zverev won 5 break points to 4 by the Austrian in the match. He also won 5 games in a row to 3 by the Austrian. Thiem committed 4 double faults to 3 by Zverev, who committed 33 unforced errors.
