Tension in Bhojpur village after attack on huband of Mukhia

Ara: Tension prevails in and around Belaur village under Udwantnagar police station in Bhojpur district after a dozen armed  persons attacked nephew of a dreaded criminal lodged in Bhagalpur jail on November 23 evening. The district administration has deployed commando force at the village to maintain law and order.

Kariman Chaudhary alias Mrityunjay Chaudhary, husband of Belaur Mukhia Manju Devi and nephew of notorious criminal Butan Chaudhary who is in Bhagalpur jail, was released on bail recently. About a dozen armed miscreants attacked him at Belaur village but Mrityunjay Chaudhary somehow escaped unhurt. The miscreants fired indiscriminately and set ablaze a hut and fled away. The attack was said to be handy work of his rival Ranjit Chaudhary. A named FIR has been lodged with Udwantnagar police station against 12 persons on the statement of Mrityunjay Chaudhary and police arrested two persons Arbind Chaudhary alias Raja and Rahul Chaudhary on Thursday.

SHO, Udwantnagar police station, said that jailbird Butan Chaudhary and absconder Ranjit Chaudhary have a long standing enmity and several persons have so far been killed in this war of attrition. Ranjit had fielded his wife for the post of mukhia in the panchayat election this year and Hemant Chaudhary, elder brother of Ranjit Chaudhary, was killed during election. That triggered fresh war of attrition between the rival groups. He said that police had arrested Mrityunjay Chaudhary, Upendra Chaudhary and Butan Chaudhary along with AK 47 in a marriage party and sent them to jail on March 4, 2016. Butan Chaudhary was later sent to Bhagalpur jail while Mrityunjay Chaudhary was released on bail a week ago and started taking interest in agriculture work that annoyed his rivals.

Mrityunjay Chaudhary said that the miscreants were carrying petrol bomb and firearms and attacked him with petrol bomb and also fired at him but he somehow escaped unhurt.

It was said that Champa Devi, mukhia, was strangulated to death at Belaur village under Udwantnagar police station on December 16, 2013. Butan Chaudhary had fielded Champa Devi, wife of his servant, as the seat was reserved for women.
