Patna : Tai Tzu Ying, 24, Chinese Taipei, remains World No 1 with 95,667 points in the Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on March 12, 2019. But, Chen Yufei, 21, China has jumped two places to be ranked World No 2 with 87,499 points after winning the All England Open Badminton Championships 2019 at Arena Birmingham, UK, on March 10, 2019, defeating two-time defending champion Tai Tzu Ying in the final.
Nozomi Okukara, 23, Japan, the 2017 World Champion, has slipped one place to ranked World No 3 with 86,953 points while Akane Yamaguchi, 21, Japan, has jumped one position to be ranked World No 4 with 81,083 points. Reigning Olympic and World Champion Carolina Marin, 25, has slipped two places and is ranked World No 5 with 80,390 points. Marin had not participated at All England Open Badminbton Championships due to injury.
P V Singh, 23, India, who had lost in the first round of All England Open Badminton Championships, remains World No 6 with 76,640 points. HE Bingjiao, China, is World No 7 with 75,727 points while Ratchanok Intanon, Thailand, is World No 8 with 71,947 points.
Saina Nehwal, 28, India, also remains World 9 with 69,254 points. She has, however, improved her points tally by reaching the QFs of All England Open Badminton Championships. Sung Ji Hyun, South Korea, is World No 10 with 60,106 points. Li Xuerui, 28, China, the 2012 Olympic champion, has jumped 6 places to be ranked World No 16 with 51,132 points by reaching the QFs of All England Open Badminton Championships.
Rituparna Das, 22, India, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 54 with 26,530 points while Vaishnavi Reddy Jakka, 16, India, has slipped one place to be ranked World No 63 with 23,505 points. Mugdha Agrey, India, is World No 72 with 22,270 points.
