Patna : Kento Momota, 24, Japan, remains men’s World No 1 in Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings released on March 12, 2019, with 1,08,950 points in 18 tournaments. Momota has consolidated his World No 1 position by winning the All England Open Badminton Championships on March 10, 2018. Shi Yuqi, 23, China, and Chou Tien Chen, 29, Chinese Taipei, remain World No 2 & World 3 with 83,822 points and 79,874 points respectively. Shi Yuqi has, however, dropped points as he failed to defend his All England Open Badminton Championships title losing in the SFs in 2019.
Viktor Axelsen, 25, Denmark, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 4 with 76,694 points after reaching the final of All England Open Badminton Championships 2019. Reigning olympic champion and two-time former World Champion Chen Long, 30, China, has slipped one place to be ranked World No 5 with 73,578 points. Son Wan Ho, South Korea, has also slipped one place and is ranked World No 6 with 71,652 points. Son Wan had lost in the first round of All England Open Badminton Championships 2019.
Kidambi Srikanth, 26, India, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 7 with 62,030 points after reaching the QFs of All England Badminton Championships. Anthony Sinisuka Jinting, 22, Indonesia, has slipped one place and is ranked World No 8 with 60,680 points.
Sameer Verma, 24, India, remains World No 14 with 52,561 points while B Sai Praneeth, India, has jumped 4 places to be ranked World No 22 with 43,097 points. But, H S Prannoy, India, has slipped 5 places to be ranked World No 24 with 42,010 points. Subhankar Dey, India, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 47 with 30,380 points.
Parupalli Kashyap, India, has also jumped one placed to be ranked World No 50 with 29,550 points. Sourabh Verma, India, has jumped 2 places and is ranked World No 54 with 28,890 points. Ajay Jayaram, India, has also jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 55 with 28,630 points.
