Bettiah : Hundreds of Mahadalit students of Government Primary School, Barawa -Parsauni under Mainatard block in West Champaran district blocked Mainatard-Bettiah road on May 10, 2017, and ran the school on road protesting lack of school building for them.
Sources said that the school being run from a borrowed room has three teachers and five classes with 240 students. The school is unable to accommodate all the students in a dilapidated room. The land for school building has not been acquired even after lapse of a decade due to litigation over the proposed land and teachers are forced to run the school under open sky in the scorching heat. This despite the fact that education figures in the seven resolves of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.
Birendra Gupta, a member of CPI(ML) state committee, said that the people had been approaching the district administration for long for land for school building.
