Patna : Shrikrishna Science Centre (SS), Patna, celebrated World Environment Day (WED) on June 5, 2017, with various programmes like Sit and Draw competition for different age groups, Fancy dress on the theme of Environment and a Popular talk by M P Trivedi, Associate Professor, Department of Botany, Patna Science College, Patna University.
The Sit and draw competition was divided into three groups with theme ‘My Dream Park’ for the class I to IV and theme ‘Clean Environment’ for the class V to VII and theme ‘ Human in Nature’ for the class VIII to X. Altogether 60 students participated in the painting competition. For each group 5 prizes were given. Then from, 11 a.m onwards a Fancy dress competition was organized in which 18 participants took part. They dressed in various forms like water drop, tree, animals etc. Five prizes were given for this section and at last a very popular talk “Environment pollution and Bio diversity” was delivered by Prof. Trivedi.
Trivedi started his lecture with simple introduction of all basic ingredients of environment. He described each of the elements viz. air, water and soil in a very simple form and explained the complex structures of biodiversity. The programme concluded with distribution of certificate of participation in Summer Hobby Camp. Altogether 150 students with their parents took part in the programme, according to an SSC release.
