Jehanabad : Five bike borne criminals looted Rs 13.46 lakh from a cash van near LIC Building, Jehanabd, under Jehanabad Town police station in broad daylight on June 5, 2017, after snatching the gun from the guard. The cash was looted when it was being put into the van for being deposited into Axis Bank branch.
Cinfirming the cash loot, Jehanabad SP Aditya Kumar said that the incident took place at 1.30 pm on June 5 and police were investigating into it. He said that police were looking into the CCTV footage of the area though they were yet to arrest any criminal in this connection.
Jehanabad Town police station Inspector A K Pal, however, maintained that the incident appears fishy as no one saw the cash being looted from the van though CCTV has captured the movement of the said bikes. He said the parking position of the van also raises suspicion and police were quizzing the receiver of the cash who was sitting in the van along with driver. Pal claimed that the guard had also turned up on the spot just a minute before the cash loot. The looted was recovered later by police. He said that the cash was being taken to the bank from LIC office.
